  1. In Cartagena, you have to remember that this is really three cities -- the old Walled city and next-door Getsemani, the Hotels along the water in Bocagrande and the suburban outpost of El Castillo, and the main city of Cartagena proper (including the Manga neighbourhood). You want to spend time in the Walled City, walk around and soak in the ambience. Grab a drink at Cafe del Mar and watch the sun set. Visit Gabriel Garcia Marquez's former home. Have lunch by the pool at the Santa Clara hotel (a former monastery). Explore the graffiti covered streets of Getsemani and walk under the hanging umbrellas that protect you from the sun. As others have pointed out, the beaches along Bocagrande are not great. The best beach is in El Castillo next to the Hilton hotel. It is a public beach so feel free to set up there. Otherwise, you can grab a day charter from Muelle de la Bodegita where dozens of companies will sell you packages for day trips to Cholón (over priced but popular), Playa Blanca and Barú. There are tons of shops, restaurants and smaller bars in Bocagrande-El Castillo, which becomes very lively in the evening. You are definitely going to want to go out at least once. There are dozens of rooftop bars/clubs in the walled city. The best known are Alquímico, Tsunami, and Ajeno. The scene at Donde Fidel (on the street across from the Hard Rock) is fun and you will get different entertainment looking for tips. As far as Baranquilla goes, it is not well developed for tourism. It actually came into existence because of its location on the Magdelana river so it has extensive history and interesting culture. Unless you are very comfortable with the language and know some locals, there is little to see and do outside of Carnaval each year. The suggestions to explore Tayrona and Santa Marta are good ones since both are relatively close. You may also want to just spend more time exploring the many sites around Cartagena such as El Tutumo (mud volcano -- fun half day outing), see the flamingos at the Avario nacional de Barú, swim with photoplankton at night in Barú, learn about AfroColombian culture with a day trip to San Basilio del Palenque, or tour the mangroves outside Cartagena. There are many other options to see - do so I encourage you to keep exploring the many possibilities for your trip here. Enjoy your time in Colombia.

  2. It's been 23 months since the last post (April 2022) in this subforum, about a jazz festival in Hua Hin. Doesn't look like many members go to this beach town. I passed through the town one afternoon on my way back to Bangkok from further south and took some pictures. Didn't spot anything gay, but the place has a nice relaxing feel to it. https://shamelessmacktwo.travel.blog/2024/03/10/passing-through-hua-hin/

  5. For those that asked, here you go. Sauna Cruising Fusion Carrera 45D #57 – 44 (barrio El Centro) Despite comments posted here, this remains the most popular sauna in Medellín in 2024. You will generally find a lineup to get in after 6pm here most weeknights since this place has the afterwork crowd on lock. This facility was opened only 3 years ago, so it is in very good condition and kept very clean. There is a large Roman-bath soaker, steam room, sauna and a pool. A billard room and two bars. There is also outdoor space with loungers if you like to get in some au natural sunbathing. This area gets particularly busy after dark. There is a dark room-labyrinth, a theatre showing porn, several public cabins with glory holes, plus private cabins with tvs (porn). This sauna does not offer massage service. The crowd here comes to play and there are breakout group sessions are common around the space. A good mix of professionals, working class and students, this is probably the best looking/fittest crowd consistently in the city. The parking lot is full of motos by 5pm. Surprisingly quiet on Sundays when other nearby saunas host events – have never seen a promotion event at Sauna Cruising. This is definitely the horniest scene in Medellín currently. X @Cruising_fusion WhatsApp +57 313 2047877 Saint Moritz Sauna Calle 56 # 45 – 72 (barrio El Centro) Has been discussed pretty extensively in this post, this is the newest addition (2023) to the Medellín scene. The facility is basic but clean. Sauna, jacuzzi, very large steam room, darkroom, and small outdoor space. They do offer massage, however I have never seen more than two attendants on site. This space has had a hard time finding its crowd in neighbourhood where you can find eight saunas within a 10 minute walk. Best day is Sunday when they run promotions (strippers and live sex shows) or duing holidays/special events. Valentine’s Day (Feb 14) was packed this year. Website https://saintmoritzsaunas.com/galeria/medellin/ WhatsApp +57 313 8810055 Instagram @saintmoritzmed El Castillo Carrera 45D #57-85 (barrio El Centro) If you are a fan of pollos (young men) you are going to love this place. Just up the street from Crusing Fusion, this is the favourite sauna/cruising bar with the younger crowd. If you are not also pollo, I can not guarantee they are going to be interested in you. This location is in a residential zone, with a discrete entrance off the street. The space is large with a dark room/labyrinth, sauna and steam room, video room and lots of hallways to explore. Busiest day is Saturday when they host Rumba Total – a weekly event with entertainment (strippers) and open bar. There is no massage service here. WhatsApp +57 315 5156550 Instagram @elcastillosauna ß not active Club 55 Calle 55 #45 – 44 (barrio El Centro) Probably the most dependable sauna in Medellin for packing in the crowds, this place gets busiest on the weekends (Sat - Sun) and fairly busy after work (4:30 - 6:30pm). Taking over where Club de Tobi (RIP) left off, Club 55 features massage service with two massage rooms on the second floor. However of late the service seems intermittent so take you chances if this is your motivation. The attendents can be found by the pool/bar area when not busy. The club has two floors, with a sauna, jacuzzi, pool and bar on the main floor. The second floor hosts a labyrinth (glory holes and private rooms) and steam room which get very busy. There is a small gym on the second floor. The crowd is a mix of younger and older that tends to taper off by 7:30pm so get there early. Telephone +57 2313100 La Casona Spa Carrera 47 #57A – 32 (2do piso) (barrio La Candelaria) This Video bar was fully renovated in 2022 and is advertising heavily. The space is small, but includes a bar and show room, turco, jacuzzi, outdoor space and darkroom with a sling. There are private cabins available to get busy with new acquaintances. The crowd is older (think 40 plus) but looking to get down to business in a sex positive environment. WhatsApp +57 304 5514626 X @solohombresvid Sauna Atlanta Gay Calle 51 #40 – 125 (2do piso) (barrio Centro) If you want to experience a throwback gay sex club in Medellin, you found your spot. This is a bare bones location to meet other men and have sex. Think over 40’s crowd that is looking to get busy. It is located right downtown (Avenida La Playa) so busiest during the week – late afternoons and after 6pm. There is a rooftop deck, dark room, video room and a sex room with benches and a sling. The space smells of stale poppers and cum. If you like your sex clubs raunchy and sweaty you may fall in love with this place. Telephone +57 44895054

  6. Tayrona has a nude beach which is a gay beach and when I was there, the only 4 naked guys parading around joined forces and marched to the bushes nearby 😀. I was there with a friend and did not join. Easy to get there, its the next beach to the beach with a tower. It was huge and basically empty. I heard they have a good gay dance club in Baranquilla. Santa Marta is ok for transiting for various places including Tayrona, but itself not overly interesting. Its developed for tourists and has hotels, food, drinks and music.

  8. Santa Marta is indeed a great place. Don't forget to visit Tayrona national park and Minca. Tayrona takes at least 2 days, but Minca can be done with a motor guy in 1 day. In Minca you can go there with a car or taxi, but travel around Minca is with motor. Roads are bad, and it is very mountanius place. Forget about Baranquilla, it is not turist place, but all the boys come from there. Cartagena is a nice place. the best beaches are out of town. usually on a small island. a lot of history, excellent food and music places. Boys are more expensive in Cartagena because there is a lot of tourists.

  9. From The Nation A small village in Kampong Chhnang province is celebrating the return of international tourists, with as many as 100 guests a day enjoying its unique service. The residents of Kampong Tralach Leu village – in Kampong Tralach commune and district – offer an authentic rural experience, mixed with a chance to admire Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage, with relaxing rides on traditional ox carts. Guests not only get the pleasure of a slow-paced journey through tranquil green rice fields but are treated to the chance to explore a fascinating 300-year-old temple, just 5km from the village. Many local people feared the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic would bring an end to the income opportunities their traditional mode of transport and their proximity to the Wat Po Rukkharam pagoda – with its beguiling paintings – have brought them since the ox cart association was established in 2007. Now, they say they are welcoming more and more visitors, giving them not only the chance to support their families but also preserve their prize oxen and customary carts. From a driver’s perspective, Khieu Sopheap is one of 48 members of the Kampong Tralach Leu Village Ox Cart Association and owns his cart and pair of oxen. The proud ox cart driver notes that in addition to his fellow villagers, their association contributes to the well-being of the residents of Tahang village, the home of the 300-year-old Wat Po Rukkharam pagoda, also known locally as Wat Kampong Tralach Leu pagoda. The 52-year-old says his cart can carry two passengers at a time, and generally makes two or three trips per day.

  10. Hotels: Mercure BH Zona Financiera and Holiday Inn Exp. & Suites Bogota. Airbnb: just message the host before you and ask if visitors are allowed. Most will reply that it is no issue even with doormen/security at the front desk/entrance. Local guys have no issue showing ID to security staff to visit you; it is entirely normal.

  15. Something happening in Medellín is a growing resistance to foreigners. I found it increasingly difficult this year to get a proper manicure/pedicure in the city as many spas will tell you they don't offer their serivces to men (not true but what are you going to say/do?) I found a new barbershop that I am happy to share -- Desert Eagle Barba VIP in the Mall Gran Via (Transversal 75B #5-106 - barrio Belén) that offers a complete set of services to men in a funky and friendly environment. They offer bar service and a pool table while you wait your turn with one of eight barbers. Services include haircut, shave + beard services, facial exfoliation, manicures, pedicures, and waxing (ears, nose, eyebrows). Prices slightly higher than other barbershops but happy to pay to get everything done in one stop. WhatsApp +57 302 3427971

  20. Don't be put off by the awful title of this film. This is one of the best movies about sex workers to come in a long while. Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack are brilliant actors with oodles of chemistry. The script by Katy Brand is superb. Sophie Hyde's direction is what gets movies awarded. It's a simple movie that's deep and complex. There is something here for every adult to chomp on, especially those among us who struggle to find sexual happiness and fulfillment. Sadly, it's only available on Hulu at the moment. If and when you get a chance to see it, run. It's fabulous. And, yes, Daryl McCormack is quite delicious naked.

  21. me too and I know why I like all that space - I grew up in very smalI apartment where every square inch was utilized. One danger of big hotel room is that we may tend to spread our stuff all over and when packing something may be forgotten - see my last trip report where I confess to leaving about 100 000 riels in 5000 riel notes on the night desk. And no, I was not in rush when packing , it just happened.

I see there is a website, plus a picture of a boarded up building. Said to be on Silom, just past where Skytrain turns off. One pic of guys stripped to waist, hunk/twunk. Straightforward comment, 'come here for massage or sex'! You have to pay in advance, 7/11 suggested! No cash accepted. All a bit odd.

  26. The question is, do you remember how it was before and can you compare it?
    1 point
  27. These questions have been studied scientifically multiple times. Not difficult to do, since one need only ask men who've had the procedure done as adults. I don't at all think that's easy to do. You overlook that the group of men who gets circumcised as an adult is a highly biased one. Either they had a medical circumstance (phimosis, balanitis, condyloma, or it was for religious reasons. You won't find many men who get circumcized just to see if there is a change in sensation, would you?

    New Bar in Silom

Only places I'm aware of In Silom entertainment district that are open 24/7 are the two Foodland markets and restaurants and some shops inside the Silom Edge complex at Rama 4 and Silom Rd., plus of course 7-11 locations and Don Don Donki. There may well be others but I'm rarely out that late. The image above appears to have two different identities: "T. Bar" and "Barboy Thailand". One says Silom Rd. and the other Suriya Wong.

As long as you pay at check-in you will be fine/it will be removed. Ignore what you see online.

    Hotel IVA/VAT tax?

If you have already paid/prepaid rate, you are SOL. Move on. If you pay at check-in, the hotel will remove the IVA at check-in regardless of what you see in the confirmation. Only book with OTA like Booking.com, Exp. etc if you see that the rate is without IVA or if you can choose to pay at the hotel.

  32. I see your point, @unicorn, but, unlike tattoos -whose appeal totally escapes me- and circumcision -I was cut as an infant and I have never complained-, ear piercing is not permanent. If you leave a pierced ear without a stud, an earring or such, the piercing will heal and close.

  35. From VN Express China has announced that citizens from six more European countries – Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg – will be able to travel visa-free to China from March 14. "I would like to inform you that starting from March 14, China will further implement the visa-free policy for Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg on a trial basis," Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a press conference in Beijing, as quoted by Global Times. Citizens from these countries will be allowed to stay in China up to 15 days for business, tourism, family visits and transit purposes, Bloomberg reported. In December last year, China waived visas for citizens from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain as it seeks to recover tourism after years of border closures due to Covid.

  38. I'm glad you put those two words in quotes, because you form your opinions while ignoring the facts and the studies used to find those facts. You decry what you perceive as "religious lunacy" yet use a religious term ("desecration") to put down a procedure simply because of your cosmetic preferences. You're certainly providing no scientific evidence to counter the evidence I presented, but simply post hysterical ramblings. You're no better than those who go around screaming about a "stolen election" from 2020, although all of the actual evidence points to the fact that Biden won fair and square. Screaming and bombastic language don't change the facts. In my over 3 decades working as a family physician, I never once saw a complication from a circumcision. I did see a number of boys and men develop medical conditions which wouldn't have happened had they been circumcised. That being said, obviously most men do fine even when they're not circumcised. However, there are documented medical reasons which might want parents to get their boys circumcised. Professional societies and the CDC agree on this. If you know of bona fide medical studies which show you're right and medical professionals are wrong, please post a link to the studies. Otherwise, your choices are to shut up, or to continue mouthing off like some MAGA idiot who believes what he wants to regardless of the facts.

  39. This issue seems to come to the forefront every two or three years. Personally I think the vendors add more to the Bangkok experience than they detract . Particularly enjoy watching the Screw Boy staff grabbing a quick meal about 11:30. I suppose the following could be filed under: "we're from the government and we're here to help." From Thai PBS World The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has been trying to solve the problem of street stalls stealing footpath space from pedestrians for decades, but with little result. This challenge is a tough one because street stalls don’t just benefit the vendors but are also used by most Bangkokians. Street vendors, usually low-income earners, don’t have to worry about rent, so they can earn a living selling their products/services at very modest prices. Their customers, meanwhile, appreciate the affordability and easy access to food and products. All they need to do is stop off at their favorite stall on their way home, or to the office or school. Street stalls are ubiquitous in Bangkok’s crowded areas. Foreign tourists are often fascinated by the diverse range of delicious, yet cheap street food available in the Thai capital. However, despite all the benefits, there are downsides too. “Food stalls line the footpath leading to my condo, making it very difficult for me to get home,” a resident of Bangkok’s Udom Suk area told Thai PBS World. “I often end up walking on the road instead.” Due to these problems, she has decided to throw her full support behind the BMA’s efforts to regulate street stalls. She insists that pedestrians should be allowed to walk safely on clean and tidy footpaths. The BMA is planning to regulate street stalls by moving them to special areas such as hawker centers, removing them altogether, or ensuring they operate without endangering pedestrians and ruining state-built footpaths. The plan takes the form of a new draft regulation currently being put to a public hearing that’s due to conclude at the end of March. The draft regulation stipulates that every street vendor be registered. To register, the vendor must be a Thai national with annual income of no more than 180,000 baht as per Revenue Department estimate, must have a welfare card, must be receiving financial help via the Social Development and Human Security Ministry, or be buying a home under the Community Organizations Development Institute. If their annual earnings soar beyond 180,000 baht, street vendors will not be able to renew their license. The BMA promises to review and revise the income ceiling based on inflation and the state of the economy.

  41. This looks like a needless exercise in bureaucracy, the rules seem unnecessarily complex. I can't help wondering if this is some form of brown envelope exercise? The Government is always going on about encouraging tourism, and I would have thought that street vendors are a good part of the scene. I know that in Singapore, there are excellent hawker centres, but that is Singapore!

    question about Cali

I took a bus from Pereira to Cali, I like bus travel in central Colombia. Usually overnight, pretty comfy, weird 2am snack stops, every second trip something was broken (aircon, electricity system), people are shared to other busses, etc. But, everybody remains calm and happy, big respect to colombians. Its a project in itself! There is a city called Palmira near Cali, Grindr went crazy there. In Cali I spent most of the time in the Phisicus sauna, nice people, cold beer, (too strong) weed if you are polite with guys in smoking area, massage guys and quite many (hot) visitors at weekends. There is also sauna called Cali Club, where sexy guys go on weekends. I was there within a week and there were few visitors, including horny muscle guy. I stayed in a hotel next to the main futball stadium, walking distance to Parqu del Perro. Took uber to the center. I had an impression that in the Cali main bus station one should be careful with the belongings you have. I did not hear or see any salsa😀.
