Hi guys, Just came back from a trip to Bangkok. It was mainly for work so I did not get to do much with the gogo/massage scene but thought I'd share what I did manage to do. There were two main things I at least wanted to do on this trip; checking out the Tawan situation personally and checking out the Sol bar which I've passed by so many times in my previous trip but never walked in. 😅 I am happy to say that I accomplished both. Tawan On Tawan, I've shared my findings here. Hopefully, that answered some questions a few of the members here had. Sol I checked out Sol just once on this trip. The entrance fee was THB 450. The layout of the bar was quite nice, spacious stage and floor but there's an annoying pillar at the middle-front of the stage which kind of blocks part of the stage depending on where you sit. The boys were a mixed bunch, but most consisted of str8 looking twinks. There were a few older guys who are lean/muscular and there's one guy who, if I'm not mistaken, was from Tawan quite some time back. The show was the usual mix of the drag, sexy show and big cock show (the movements they used for their "sexy dance" is pretty much the same as with most other bars except Jupiter, which makes me wonder if they are trained by the same coach, or if that's just the Thai version of a sexy dance 😅). We found ourselves in what seems like a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant which I thoroughly enjoyed - Thai food is great but having a bit of break from it can be good at times. With our stomachs full, we walked for a bit until we made a turn to an alley of shops which then led to a bar. I think Brick Bar is the name and I was relieved that it's not a lady gogo bar but rather a live music one with bands playing both English and Thai songs. We were stopped by the entrance and was asked for ID, I told T that I don't bring my passport everywhere but I only have a photo of it on my phone. He talked to the staff who then led us to our seat on the upper level overlooking the stage. Oh - and they didn't ask to see photo of my ID The place was impressively large and the bands who played that night were impressively decent. I was also pleased to pay "non-boy bar" pricing for drinks this time. The crowd that night was good fun as well. Given that it was a week night - it was busy and crowded but the vibe is more chill than manic. And T seems to be enjoying as well. After a few drinks, he had his arms wrapped around my shoulder and keeps on giving me quick pecks on the cheek and neck. I was overly conscious as this is not a gay bar and others may find issue with public displays. However, no one seems to mind and when one waiter who brought our drinks pointed to me and T and put his fingers together and gave us a thumbs up sign, I began to relax. It must be the drinks or the music or the vibe but we eventually found ourselves tipsy and horny. We made our way back to the hotel and was making out as soon as the door was closed. OK, it was by accident.... we'd taken the wrong turning and had arrived in Trench Town, of Bob Marley fame. That was scary. Later, my spirit somewhat tamed, I was still anxious to visit places off the beaten rack. In Thailand, some of my happiest memories are of when we rented a car and explored the north... places like Mai Salong and Mai Sai. Now, we stay comfortably in tourist hotels in Koh Samui, Chiang Mai and Jomtien. And our journey to Terminus 21 is the furthest we venture. However, I've no doubts "as the days darken around me" that some of my happiest memories (apart from being with P, naturally) are of those places which were difficult to access and had an element of, well, insecurity and chance about them. Places where I was an outsider, though- and this is crucial- where I was warmly welcomed. Indeed, the more disadvantaged the community, the more kindly was I received.

Managed to off one of the guys. ST tips - 3000, little higher than what I'd normally pay for ST (ard 2500) but taking into account that there's no off fee or drink charges, it's actually cheaper than the usual off. Jupiter The entrance fee is THB 500. Unlike my previous trip in November last year, the bar had a sizeable number of female customers (some of whom were quite rowdy during the shows). I'm opposite , unless is snowing or raining cats and dogs I tell my guest ' you can leave shoes on' . Most do , some still remove, it usually depends of their own house custom. My friend Henry usually visits on last Saturday of the month and always removes his shoes before I protest. Why do I ? because I suspect his sock changing day is last Sunday of the month.

I can confirm @Mapraou info. I met with the Tawan guys last night at the 7-Eleven near the former Tawan where the guys hangout as previously reported by @roughjock. Most of them looked like they've seen better days. The cheeky former tout/doorman from Tawan "suggested" that I joined them for drink (which means that I need to go buy a drink from 7-Eleven and some drinks for the guys too) and I happily obliged 🤣. Some info I got from them: 1. The guys hanging out there are available for "offs". I saw a few of them trying to catch the attention of the ladies passing by 🤣. That former doorman was also heavily pushing for me to off one of the guys there and then 😅. The down side is that, since we were in the street and with their full clothes on, you can't really tell if they've been maintaining their bodies or which one appeals to you the most. 2. The bar is said to be open again towards the later part next month but as with all news in Thailand, take it with a pinch (or in this case, a spoonful) of salt. Just relooking my previous maiden post prior to an earlier trip to bangkok as a newby forum member, and I’ll be there again next week for another real and massage-fest. This has been a really informative forum and a great treasure trove of advice. I think the most rewarding of my massage ventures has been Prime, and I went there pretty much every other day, for a marathon combo of 2 hours Thai massage and 2 hours oil massage. Incredibly good and so relaxing, and I was disappointed only once with a lack-lustre massage very late in the evening, in a really cramped room and the massuer was propanly very tired. but all,other occasions had been great. it will be my principal port of call again for massages when I’m there next week I suspect! And I was lucky there once… i also went to Paradise as someone I connected with on Jckd was a 30+ year old massuer there and had been open to a little extra edge kink and been communicating with me on that. It was a clean place, generally well appointed room, decent sized with attached shower. A lot more spacious and less factory-like than Prime if I were to be honest, and I’d rate the overall experience a 7.5/10. Quality of massage is trumped by Prime though.. I have had 2 massages now at s’sense, but although they had been in huge anticipation. the experience there had been unexceptional. The first had not been too enjoyable with what I had thought had been a veteran therapist ( who is still there) whom the charismatic Mr S had affirmed I should try, and the second, which was an impromptu visit with a group of guy and gal friends on a subsequent trip after we had dinner at Suan Phlu, by an assigned massuer who was very young. Yes, I used to find that in Bangkok. not so much in Pattaya where the "walk" is a lot shorter if you're staying in the Boyztown area. I did not notice any change recently but can say that street behavior largely depends of boys , some are clingier than others. Generally it's like you described above - clingy in bar but reserved on the street and I like it for the same reason - fear of attracting unwanted attention and offending local sensibilities. In the past I recall few extreme cases when boy suggested he will follow me at distance and we meet in front of hotel. The JC to Central journey in the early evening often took over forty minutes last November owing to the never-ending roadworks. In March it was better, perhaps thirty. Occasionally even less. If you go during the daytime, twenty minutes is the average in my experience. Much the same as the return to the JC. It's a d**n nuisance but we don't find the JC at night as interesting as central Pattaya. However, I must add that the Jomtien promenade at sunset is fun with a couple of decent places to eat as a change from Dick's. Better than Pattaya's in fact. And no business girls. I like seeing the women do their dance-exercises to music- often fifty of them- and admire the occasional elderly falang who tries courageously to participate! I've said before that the atmosphere there is almost Mediterranean. Not just falangs but Thai families.

I always find it interesting that most of the world uses the British gauge for railway tracks, 4' 8 1/2ins. Its a weird figure to start with! And the US views the metric system as a Communist plot!

From Thai PBS World oreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara says that he has resigned from his ministerial position, stating that he wishes to “uphold his principles”, without offering any further explanation. His resignation comes as the cabinet reshuffle is announced in the Royal Gazette, which sees him removed from the deputy premiership but retaining the foreign minister portfolio. “I am confident that my past works, as the deputy premier and foreign minister, have brought benefits to the country. I did my job to the best of my ability and my work was effectively implemented,” said Parnpree. He added that he has not yet informed PM Srettha Thavisin of his decision, and his resignation will come into effect today. He said he believes that a suitable person will be found to fill the roles of deputy prime minister and foreign minister. The choice between Jomtien and Boyztown is the big one. Too much to say in a brief post but I recommend you read through many posts on the site which will describe the differences. However, over the twenty-years I've been visiting both my partner and I have become "Jomtien" people, regarding the Agate Hotel in Jomtien Complex as our favourite in Thailand. And it's nowhere near the most expensive. Others feel differently and there are certainly some things in Pattaya we miss. Bear in mind that we're not "bar-goers"; those that are may well think differently. Of course, you can do what we do, that is stay in Jomtien but take the bus into Pattaya in the evening.
