With the onset of covid and the closure of the venues many of the young men (who are from the Shan Stae in Myanmar) went to work in local construction jobs. Others returned to Myanmar. When the venues reopened quite a lot stayed with the regular jobs they had and consequently drifted out of the scene. Several that I know from pre covid Adam's Apple, New My Way went to work in the host bars here - of which there are several. Adams Apple at present has around 16 young men - a handful do the shows whilst the remainder keep customers company. Some staff returned from pre covid times . Circle Pub which is nicely revamped has fewer staff who appear less twinkish than Adam. The lighting inside Circle is more subdued so the atmosphere is more like New My Way offered. Both venues close at midnight.

Osaka I think Osaka has a lot to offer Bathhouse - There is the famous Spa World. This is regular super bathhouse frequented by fathers with kids. I just spent 9 days in Japan, 3 days each in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka over Thanksgiving. I visited several Onsens and a couple of brothels. The 4 most mentioned hotels are literally within two minutes walk from each other. I had a 1 night rsrvation for Agate, followed by 5 nights at East Suites. However, when I crossed the street to check into the latter, per my reminder of an in-advance request for a quiet room not facing the street, I was told there is no such room (available?). The manager was VERY nice about it; took me to the room; and offered to cancel the rsrvation if I prefer to go elsewhere. I went to check out the others and decided to return to Agate. Their rates for a standard room: Zinq 900 East 1400 Poseidon 1600 Agate 1900 (half Avani's rate). East and Poseidon r small, no more than 12 rooms. Zinq and Agate have scores of them. I liked the way Poseidon looked. The nice Getman manager said the windows have triple noise isolation. Cldnt offer availability; I think I'll try it out next time. I didnt like the way Zinq looked; the open spaced terraced way to the rooms reminded me of a prison. Agate is quite satisfactory. I like the spacious room; brkfst buffet is ok for 200 baht; welcoming attitude and service.

Kyoto This is like the Sahara for gay venues, at least for a non-Japanese speaking person. Bathhouse - There used to be a gayish (regular but frequented by gays) Sento (bathhouse) just a few minutes walk from the JR Kyoto station. I visited it once before the pandemic late at night and it was fun. But the building was torn down during the pandemic. I had more shopping plans for that night but Baht again texted me to join him in Jomtien Super Town — is that what they call it? — to start drinking with another group of his friends and later head with them to a Pattaya nightclub that Baht was eager to experience. They had planned to leave when they woke up that day — after for what for them were three straight all-nighters of binge drinking. Baht has yet to reply to that text, nor to even read it. I hope he is OK.

Not living in the Silom area affords me different people to be close to on the apps. Most are office workers and college students. Most will never respond to me. yp11 - AA does have what you asked about - there are about 5 show boys who do individual performances on stage and then circulate amongst customers to gather tips. It is standard for to be charged for the time that a host or hostess spends with you in Thai-style host bars or karaokes. The charge will either be on an hourly or half-hourly basis, depending on the policy in each venue. The going rate in most Saphan Kwai hostess bars is about 200 baht per half-hour, per girl that you invite over to sit with you. Not sure how that compares with what you had to pay at Hi Club, but I assume that it was somewhere along the same lines.

I do not know how many years ago, but @floridarobtook me to a bar / pub in the downtown area and showed me how to keep my hand over the top of my drink because this is so common. I think that may have been 15 or 20 years back and to this day, when in Brazil, my hand does not leave my glass as bars/pubs/discos.

I agree cutting a customer short on the clock is a big no non-no. Forget the "you come, I go" philosophy. A few years ago I was sitting with an Asian friend, watching the Dreamboy show. It included a slapstick segment featuring ladyboys made up in grotesque costumes and makeup. I would agree - In my case, I was invited along as the falang to celebrate a Thai birthday of one of my few Thai friends. When he finally did text me it was from Fake Club itself and the news wasn’t so great. They only sold bottles of whiskey or vodka. No tequila, but they’d let you bring a bottle of tequila inside the club and charge a 300 baht “uncorking” fee. I think I was supposed to take care of the tequila but didn’t realize that. I don’t know where to buy bottles of tequila that late in Bangkok, and Baht had made it sound as though it were something he could handle once I showed up. That happened at about 11:30. I got to the table only to find whiskey. Baht poured me a glass of whiskey and soda despite my protesting that just the smell of whiskey makes me wanna throw up. Then he excused himself to go to the bathroom. He didn’t return for a long time —almost an hour — and as his absence stretched I grew more determined to say my goodbyes as soon as he returned. It ended up that Baht had commandeered a motorcycle taxi and told him to go to every liquor store and convenience store still open until they found one with tequila. As the clock ticked almost to midnight — Thailand’s legal cutoff time for sales of alcohol — they found one last convenience store. It had a bottle of tequila. He texted me a photo of it. It was almost exactly midnight. When he got back, well after midnight, he must have had to travel far, Baht plopped my prize down on the table and told me of his adventure. Well, I guess I can stay another half hour or so, I thought. I ended up having a great night. I had not drank like that in almost three years. The music was really fun and I found out that despite no practice since the end of 2019, my body can still dance. We ended up polishing off that bottle of tequila and staying till the very end. When the bill came, a little more than 5,000 baht, I took it from the waiter, who shined his flashlight on my wallet so I could see what I was doing. As I was counting out 1,000-baht notes, I noticed all eyes around the table were on my wallet, riveted with suspense. Would I go all the way? If I did, would I leave a tip? I got to 4,000 and hesitated. Surely Golf and his friends could take care of the rest and add a tip. I glanced up, all eyes, even the waiter’s, were still glued to what my fingers were doing in my wallet. There was also a sense of desperation in those eyes, so I counted out two more bills and a jubilant celebration erupted as if I — or they — had just scored the winning goal in a World Cup game. The waiter actually broke into tears he was so happy. He gave me a big hug, showering me in thank yous. I’ve never hugged anyone so bone thin. I was happy I had left him a generous tip. He could obviously use the money.

It's a sex club with glory holes and a dark room....I've never been there, looks small...I've been to upgrade club. But after going to the saunas, you might not like the selection/availability. I've brought a guy with me as insurance to Upgrade and always had to use them, lol

I had a look at Zoomer Bar last night and had a chat with one of the managers. They are advertising for staff, so another handsome waiter or two would be to my liking.
