  1. You guys are funny So my hotel booked me a taxi to Jomtien. 1200baht, seemed like a good deal to me, especially since the trip back to BKK was 1600. So on arrival at Jomtien, I check into hotel, and go for a little wander to find the beach and see the area. On walking past one of the massage shops in the complex, I'm grabbed at by multiple boys... clearly the boys are far more forward here! I carry on walking trying to smile and shake my head and say no. On my return, I spy out Sophia's thai, and a couple cafe/resturants opposite, and make note for food later. My favourite thai food is 'pad gra pow'... and if you ask for not spicy, they simply leave out all of the chillis, If you ask for a little spice, you get all of the spice. So my first night, I go around the Complex, checking out all the bars. It's busy because its christmas eve, seems like everyone is out. As I'm wandering through several of the bar boys try to grab me to pull me into their bars. One even gives me a bear hug and wont let me past. I was cold sober at this point, and I'm a pretty shy reserved guy. Stangers grabbing and hugging me uninvited is not what I call fun. I eventually find a bar that looks a bit quiter with a good seat to people watch. After some time, I get a message from the boys I saw it BBK, they're sitting at the bar nearby and invite me over. I sit for drinks and get to know them all better. At the end of the night, I go back with one, I'll call him M, and M certainly wasn't just a beautiful face. He was defintely worth every baht of his tip. He leaves after, and I go to sleep satisfied. The next morning I take a little trip over to Terminal 21 to wander the mall and see if there is any good sales on. I find a couple of nice things, and head back to the complex. After a swim and a rest, I'm ready for night 2. I run the massage shop gauntlet again to get some food, then I decide to go to the Venue for the show. After enjoying the awesome show, I end up back drinking with M and his friends. I go back to hotel alone though. The following day I spend relaxing by at the beach and by the pool, and of the evening, I eat then join M and friends for drinks. We end up playing drinking games, and M asks me to take him back to the hotel, and thats where we go. After some good times were had, we both head back to join the others for more drinking and games. M wants to stay with me the night, and I say yes. I leave to your imaginations what we got up to. At this point, M is starting to refer to me as his bf... which would suprise none of the more experienced members here I'm sure. It's my last full day in Thailand, and I spend most of it with M, relaxing at the beach and having lunch. Of the evening, we part company for a while, before meeting up again. I want to see the Venue show again, and M comes along. He's really not into the show at all, but I'm enjoying it... technical issues and all My last night I spend alone as I needed to be up early for the flight home. I had thought this would be my last ever trip to LoS... but I think I've been convinced that there is still much more for me to enjoy there. Thanks for reading

  2. Hi All, I thought I'd share with you briefly some of my experiences over the last couple of weeks in the LoS. As a spoiler to avoid disapointing, I'll say it was not a sex-filled escapade, though some spicy action did happen (which of course, I shall describe) I arrived in BKK feeling pretty fresh faced, all things considered. Taxi prices from airport seem to have gone up... 600baht said the Taxi Driver! After some firm negotiation, that mostly involved me saying no to his flat fee, and saying I would get another taxi, he agreed to use the meter. I pay express tolls and baggage fee. Not a problem. (For those interested: To my hotel in Silom, Meter was at ~300 baht, tolls were 100 baht, + baggage was 50 baht I think. I left him with 500 baht.) I checked in to the hotel, unpacked, had a nap before heading out fairly early for the evening to find something to eat. I checked out Soi 4, which seemed super busy and a little overwhelming. So I took a wander through Patpong, and soon found myself at the Foodland there. Much quieter for me to settle down in to my holiday. I wandered back to Soi 4, and sat outside Stranger bar for a couple of drinks, checking out Grindr, and acclimatising to the hustle and bustle. I wandered up the Soi, and found myself wandering into Bipolar, above the bar on the corner. It was busy and the drag show was passable, the "hostess" being australian, so very easy for me to understand. Following a few drinks in Bipolar, I wandered along to see what was happening in DJ station. Much has changed, and I was a little surprised and happy to see its new layout. It's much easier to wander around the club now, and sample everything each room has to offer. I stayed here for a few drinks, dances for a bit and caught a few smiles. For someone who's been living a very quiet life, it was quite the night to wake me up!

  3. Arena Still no escalators working in the complex where Arena is sited, and only the rear lift working to take you to the third floor. We arrived shortly after opening time. Pleased to note that the old brown sofas that must have been there for twenty years had finally been replaced by new purple seating. We both chose two hour oil massages. 990 Baht each(paid afterwards but no change given as previously noted). There were a choice of four masseurs. Two were overweight and over age(40s?) two were of interest. I let my bf choose first a well built quite good looking man around 30 years old, and I took the younger guy, slim, broad shoulders. Neither quite delivered as planned. Bf’s guy gave a good massage although not using all the historic arena sensual techniques. After half an hour the masseur moved enthusiastically to blow job and was then asking to be fucked. Bf obliged then the massage resumed before masseur was back to a blow job and asking to be fucked again, and bf obliged again. Afterwards he felt that perhaps he should have been the recipient of the tip for his good service! My masseur, as we were just undressing started saying “I give good massage you give good tip”. This wasn’t encouraging and was repeated several times subsequently. The signs got no better when he started trying to put his finger in my hole after only ten minutes of the massage. Actually his massage skills themselves were 4/10 and his after massage skills turned out to be similar. The part of the experience to which he gave most effort was in washing me afterwards in the shower(in the room). Perhaps the motivation came from being close to tip time! This was probably the worst Arena massage I have had. Both masseurs received 2,000 Baht(minimum for 2 hours is 1,500). We also had to fill in the satisfaction questionnaire with the masseurs standing beside us, making it awkward! I just marked mine not as “Very Good” but just as “Good” where those alternatives applied. Hopefully that sent some signal that I wasn’t completely happy. By the time we left more masseurs had arrived but none inspired us to make a rapid return visit.

  4. My first full day in Chiang Mai, I spent exploring the old city, visiting lots of temples and drinking a lot of coffee. It was pretty enjoyable and very chilled. That evening I went to the night bazaar, and had some food from the very many vendors there. I wandered around looking at the usual trash sold to tourists, then decided to check out the local bars. I was staying very close to RAM Show bar, and there were a couple other bars on that street that looked pretty dead and empty. So I went to Ram. And glad I did. The show was pretty damn good, the dancer boys looked very sexy and I got chatting to a lot of people. The next day I went shopping at the local mall, and did some more temple exploring. That evening I went to Adam's Apple club. The Mamasan was very chatty, but managed to say all the wrong things to me; explaning at legnth about how all the boys are from poor families. I think he wanted to guilt me into parting with all my money to help them, but in the end it kind of reinforced my internal biases on how exploitative the industry can be. Yet, despite this Mamasan did manage to find me one of the boys who spoke good english, so at least I could have a good conversation. I will say that the boys at Adam's Apple did seem like they were having a bit more fun that the bored looking souls I saw in Sol in BKK. They were very much up for a laugh during the cock show. A good mix of twinky boys and hunky guys, but honestly not one as good looking as Nam, and none that I would have offed. This would be the last GoGo bar I visit this trip, and maybe, ever. I just don't think they're fun. I would however, very much recommend Adam's Apple if GoGo's are your thing. After paying my checkbin, and tipping the concerned parties, I headed back to Ram bar, catching the very end of the show and the slow exodus of customers after. I think I need to point out at this juncture: my thoughts, opinions are about what I think is right for me. Not whats right for anyone else. Just because I don't find something fun doesn't mean I think no-one else should find enjoyment in it. The following day I planned to go for a hike up to the temples on the hill, but I was just lazy. Instead I lazed most of the day in bed, before hunger took me out for lunch. After which, I decided I would try a massage with extras. I chose Classic House because it was fairly close to the hotel, and operated on a walk in basis. I opted for a Thai Massage, and that apparently reduced my options of massuese to just two boys. I picked the more handsome, and we went up to the room where I shed my clothes and showered. The massage itself was fairly good, and when it came time to do happy ending, I just wasn't turned on, so declined his ministrations. He finished up the massage, I tipped generously, and left. Needless to say, the evening found me back at Ram's enjoying the show once again. Different show each night... amazing. I also had big crushes on a couple of the dancers; so that might have been the main reason The following day, I went on a group tour around Doi Inthanon National Park, visiting a Hill tribe that grows some superb coffee, the two Pagodas for the King and Queen and visited a waterfall. A very nice day, highly recommend. Again I ended up in Ram's and for the last night managed to chat with the dancer boys I had a crush on. Alas my sex drive just wasnt there to help me seal the deal, and take them back to the hotel. My last day I ventured back into the old city for a bit, and took a massage in one of the temples, before collecting my bags and flying off back to BKK, where things start to get spicier for those of you hoping for more sordid tales.

  5. "One Spa". Before this evolves into a "Who's on First?" routine, that's the name of the shop: One Spa. Located on Sutthisan Winitchai Rd. opposite Esso Station at Soi Inthmara 3, it's about a 15 minute walk from Saphan Kwai BTS. When I checked today, the layout was 12 guys to a page, filling 21 pages. If you go to link below, you can click on individual pics for additional photos. Here's a screenshot of a random page. https://onespa.love/ Spoken like someone who's never been there. As you can see from website, they're all the real deal. If you can pull yourself away from Pattaya, check it out. 🙂 Having sampled many of the offerings, I can recommend it.👍

  8. The next day I woke up when the morning was already done, and decided to go shopping to pick up a few bits I'd not brought with me. After a power nap back at the hotel, I wandered out to find something to eat, then made my way to Soi Patpong 2. Sol bar was the first that I came accross and in I wandered. My first time solo in a gogo bar like this. I picked a seat right at the back, by the door. A nervous newbie, I wanted to be able to make a quick escape from the Mamasan I ordered my first drink, and managed to convince the Mamasan that I didn't need a boy to sit with me right away. The boys on stage were a good mix of twinky types and more muscly men. One stood out for me, and clearly my eye had been on him quite noticably, as when the boys evacuated the stage, he came over and after a brief chat I felt oblioged to invite him to sit and have a drink. He said his name was Nam, and he was from Vietnam. He was super cute, and very engaging, asking me lots of questions, tho relying on translater app quite a bit. Since I was here on an exploratory trip, I hadn't come with the intention to off; tho I did bring 100 notes thinking that I would at least have a boy sit with me. After my second drink, my feet were getting itchy. I could get a similar experience of chatting via phone messages in a bar that charged less for the same beer. I'm sorry to say, but solo in a GoGo bar, just doesn't seem to be a hit with me. But It might have been my nervousness and anxiety, so (spoiler) it wasn't my only forway into a GoGo bar this trip. Nam and I would continue to chat via Line, but would not meet again while I was in BKK this time. After leaving Sol, I looked around at the other Go Go bars with the assortment of boys hanging around outside smoking, and decided that I wasn't in the mood for another GoGo bar, and took myself off to DJ station for another night. I like DJ station, and pretty much every night I was in BKK I ended up here. Once more, I left alone, but not without scoring a cheeky kiss and dance or two. The following day, I met up with my ex, who I had not seen for 3 years. We had a late lunch, and wandered around the new EMSphere shopping mall. We agreed to meet again later for more drinks in DJ station. Again I left DJ station and went back to my hotel alone. The following day, I was due to go to Chiang Mai in the evening, so after checking out, and leaving my bags in storage, I went for a massage at Prime. One of the best massages I've ever had, and at decent price, definely would recommend. I arrived at Chaing Mai quite late that evening. I wandered to the nearest 7/11, got some drinks and snacks, and had an "early" night.

  9. From Pattaya Mail By Barry Kenyon The tweak in the Thai Revenue rules, affecting both Thai and foreign tax residents, means that income derived from assessable foreign sources is to be taxable from new year’s day 2024. The exact impact and scope remain fog-bound, but it is no exaggeration to say that the move has put the cat firmly amongst the expat pigeons who spend six months or more in the kingdom in a calendar year. The fiscal move may indeed be aimed at wealthy Thais with offshore bank accounts or profits from overseas businesses, but the typical expat risks being trapped in the crossfire. The Thai tax authority is still mulling the detail. Officers know that whatever tax is due on cash transferred to Thailand during 2024 won’t appear on an individual’s tax return until 2025. So no hurry in their eyes. Most expats, of course, have barely heard of a Thai tin (tax identification number), let alone filled one in. And that’s part of the problem. Many older expats hate the idea of being ensnared in Thai financial bureaucracy and, potentially, needing to hire a tax lawyer. Or, of course, leave the country for pastures new. It may not come to that. For example, the Revenue has not issued a ruling on whether foreign income (such as pensions) are taxable under the enforcement decree. It may come down to the detail in double taxation agreements which Thailand has made with scores of countries. But they are all different in scope and most readers will require an expert to decipher the meaning of some of the clauses. Many Bangkok-based accountancy and legal firms are already anticipating a huge rise in the number of troubled clients. What is at stake, of course, is Thailand’s future as a retirement base. Over the years, Thailand has built up a reputation as a safe and attractive home for expats. Many have bought condominium units or set up a company to purchase a house. In future, there is no guarantee that foreigners sending money for these purposes won’t be taxed on the lump sum. If so, the prospects for the Thai property market might well take a downward swing without precedent. Whether the Thai government has thought out all the consequences of the Revenue decree seems unlikely. The Thai Board of Investment has suggested that the solution is for foreigners to apply for the 10 year golden visa, Long Term Residence, as this permits most overseas income to be brought into Thailand without any taxes together, as well as granting other financial and immigration perks. But the LTR isn’t available for retirees unless their annual income is at least US$80,000 a year or they are prepared to invest mega-cash in Thai banks or securities. There is no shield from the Revenue in Elite visas or one year extensions of stay based on retirement, marriage etc. Although no formal government statistics are issued, there are believed to be 400,000 to 500,000 longstay foreigners in Thailand who could be affected by the latest Revenue move. Some of these hold authorized work permits and already have a tax identification number for their local salary. Others are freelancers conducting online activities and earning from international clients. But most are older expats, retirees existing mainly or solely on pre-taxed pension and social security payments. The challenge for Thailand now is how to maintain competiveness in the global market. In the meantime, the internet is awash with wrong information such as a fabricated claim that retirees have to prove to immigration that their 800,000 cash lump sum has already been taxed in the home country or that all visa holders over 50 must have a tax identification number when renewing their annual permit. Optimistic bloggers say that the whole Revenue business is a chimera and that nothing will happen in practice, whilst pessimists predict that any foreign cash will have 35 percent automatically deducted on arrival. None of that is true, but continued silence about the government’s intentions can only boost falsehoods, innuendos and gossip. That’s no way to run a taxation system or to market a country to the outside world.

  10. Indeed. One of my friends chided me to "be safe" when I was talking to them soon after arriving in BKK the first day. I replied: "I feel very safe in Thailand, don't worry". I have been pickpocketed before in Gran Canaria, the thief lifting my phone. Luckily I had insurance. The feeling of lack of desire has been something plaguing me for months now... I think M and Pattaya might have done something to fix it, thankfully

  11. count your blessings your were in Thailand, I know somebody who was given hug and Felix Navidad wishes by the stranger on the street in Barcelona and was relieved of change from his pocket , about 100 euros in the process ............. I don't know how long your flights back are but mine are long , long and I found that if flying early it's actually good to keep myself busy night before as it helps to get some sleep on the plane and mitigates jet lag at home. On one of my recent trip my companion seeing that I set an alarm just in case we fell asleep , did the same just for additional security ............... I'm glad to hear that M and Pattaya fresh breeze brought you to such conclusion. Tones about feeling a bit of shortage of desire are familiar , I observed the same from time to time , specially on longer trips but it's like bad weather, eventually goes away. There's plenty of fun in Thailand , not all carnal.

  12. Definitely want to go there with a list. I'd advise against choosing anyone in the shop at time of visit. My experience has been that they are likely to have already serviced other customer(s) before you. Would also avoid accepting mamasan's suggestions. Otherwise, a good, reliable shop. You can reserve your choice on day of visit in advance by phone or on line without request for deposit. However, have 3-5 guys in in mind. Shop has been good getting back to me with availability.

  14. I arrived back in BKK quite late. My plane had been delayed, and I'd missed out on plans for drinks with ex and friends. I still dragged my carcass off to DJ station for another night of fun flirting with boys in the club. One particular group caught my attention, and they looked like they were having a great time. The following day, I got a message on grindr from one of the boys in the group I'd seen the night before, and we started chatting. I met up with ex and friend for the day, going up the river towards the Royal Palace area, they wanted to do a little jewelry shopping, and there was a big temple nearby to visit, that I'd never been to before. That evening we went for drinks in Soi 4, before they departed for home and I went to DJ station one last time. After some time, dancing and flirting, Nam messaged me on Line asking if I wanted to meet. It was my last night in Bangkok, and Nam is super cute, so I went for it. After a little negotiation,we agreed a price, and I took him back to the hotel. He showered first, and then I showered. We got into bed, and he's on his phone watching straight porn to get hard. This threw me a bit, and killed whatever sexual desires I had for him at that point. I guess I found out that straight boys defintely don't do it for me. I declined to continue with him, gave him 1500baht for his time, and showed him out. I was horny at this point though, and so I turned to Grindr. They boyI'd seen in the club was online, and we started chatting. They were visiting from Pattaya for the weekend, and were going back the next day. Co-incidently, that's exactly where I was heading!

  17. From The Nation Loading... Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit has ordered interprovincial bus operator Transport Co and other relevant agencies to urgently address all issues raised about the Bangkok Bus Terminal. This order was in response to complaints raised by Move Forward Bangkok MP Suphanat Minchaiynunt after he visited the terminal in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district. Suphanat listed the following problems: • 5 broken escalators • No lifts • 10 of 15 available fire extinguishers are broken • Inaccessible first-aid room • Inaccessible room for breastfeeding • No air-conditioning at bus platforms • Nobody using ticket vending machines • No ease of access for people with disabilities • Low lighting • Intruders in empty areas in the terminal • Defective toilets • Defective signboards • Taxi and motorcycle taxi drivers demanding expensive fares • No connection to BTS station Suphanat said he had raised these issues earlier and called on the authorities for action, but to no avail. Suriya responded on Saturday, saying that the Transport Ministry and other relevant agencies have acknowledged the complaint and are getting ready to address the issues as soon as possible. He also pointed out that the Bangkok Bus Terminal is linked to the Krungthep Aphiwat Central Terminal (Bang Sue Grand Station), which is in line with the ministry’s policy to make travelling easy for locals. The minister also said that relevant agencies have been instructed to deal with unscrupulous cabbies and motorcycle taxis, as well as intruders in empty spots in the terminal. https://www.nationthailand.com/thailand/politics/40034260

  20. "Sexually active people can get syphilis through vaginal, anal, or oral sex without a condom with a partner who has syphilis." Source: STD Facts - Syphilis (cdc.gov) It seems to me that it's fashionable for (desired by) many in the gay community to have unprotected sex (i.e., without a condom). Someone can give every appearance of being clean but still be contagious. "No other STI combines incurability with near-100% lethality in the absence of treatment as HIV does. But other STIs can have serious health consequences. The bacterial STIs – gonorrhoea, syphilis, chlamydia and chlamydia’s ‘superstrain’, lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV), as well as other infections like Mycoplasma genitalium (MG) and trichomoniasis – are generally easily curable but may have serious health consequences in some people if left untreated. Syphilis may also cause serious symptoms in early disease, and drug resistance in gonorrhoea is of considerable concern. Source: PrEP and sexually transmitted infections | aidsmap For a long time now I've thought men on PrEP have been lulled into a sense of security, that it's safe to have any unprotected sex. Not true.

  23. Actually, I would find that a rather pleasant change from yet another, "I got fucked in massage parlour X, then I got fucked in massage parlour Y, and then I got fucked in massage parlour Z and then I went home and found a boy on Grindr who came over and fucked me in the shower and then I found a boy on Hornet who fucked me on the dressing table and then I went on Blued and found a boy who promised to fuck me on the window ledge (but never showed-up) and then I went out to get fucked again and I got fucked...again." No, that isn't directed at any poster in particular. My point is simply that if some posters are only posting those parts of their reports that involve them getting rammed and jammed because they think no one would actually be interested in reading about their other activities in a trip report, I think they will be pleasantly surprised. Many readers would probably be interested in reading a fuller trip report. Considering how much Bangkok, and Thailand, have to offer, it would be difficult not tell an interesting story when posting a fuller trip report. While the mention of "church attendance" above was obviously an attempt at being witty, I actually think that a description of midnight mass in Bangkok would be an interesting read if anyone ever did post something like that - or of anything in particular that struck the poster during "aimless wandering through Chinatown steets just for fun of it." Sex is certainly a big part of many people's holidays in Thailand, but surely there is more to it than that for most? On the other hand, if someone's "trip" does actually consist of little more than being fucked in the arse repeatedly, then I suppose that is what they are going to be posting - and there is obviously a market for that sort of highbrow material here too.

You start a conversation, but don't get to dictate what everyone says or how the conversation drifts. People were trying to be helpful, or just commenting and you act like everybody has taken a dump in your corn flakes. Take the advice, or ignore it, but but getting up in arms because somebody gives you advice you can't use is kinda silly.

  31. This creates "Choice overload bias" What it is Choice overload describes how, when given more options to choose from, people tend to have a harder time deciding, are less satisfied with their choice, and are more likely to experience regret. Why it happens We have limited cognitive resources, so having more options to consider drains our mental energy more quickly, overwhelming us. Trying to maximize (i.e. finding the best option) also makes us prone to choice overload, as does preference uncertainty. Example 1 - Smartphones and choice overload By giving us so many choices about how we can spend our time, smartphones and other mobile technologies might contribute to a persistent sense of choice overload. Example 2 - Cultural differences While Americans prize individual choice, other cultures are more comfortable with handing off decisions to community members or experts. Research shows this might reduce the negative feelings we experience after making a difficult choice. How to avoid it While the number of choices presented to us isn’t controllable, we can use techniques to mitigate the overwhelming effects of too many options: set aside some dedicated browsing time, treat your choices as nonreversible, and try keeping a gratitude journal.

I want to hire an airport transportation service that is managed by a company and pay its driver on a salary basis, hence no need for the driver to scam customers and no need to speed or risk any hazardous driving. The last time I took a taxi from the city to BKK airport in a heavy rain, the taxi drive was speeding and almost lost control, the car swung left and right across several lanes on the slippery freeway. That was very close to a deadly accident.

    Gay forums are slow

Well I like sex tourism, but that’s not full time. It’s something to really enjoy and appreciate as I get older. Maybe I didn’t appreciate good sex when I was younger enough. I sure do now. And I’m not angry or bitter, more like humble, appreciative, happy, satisfied, content, etc. This forum is for gay couples, single gays, young and old, sex tourist or whoever. No need for put downs if you don’t agree of another’s lifestyle. Life is short, enjoy.

    Gay Marriage

Yes, in my opinion same sex marriage is a succes: https://www-cbs-nl.translate.goog/nl-nl/nieuws/2021/13/20-jaar-na-invoering-homohuwelijk-20-duizend-homo-echtparen-in-nederland?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=nl&_x_tr_pto=wapp Most gay couples remained married the last twenty years, divorce rates are lower compared to straight marriages, I think because because more people are "forced" into straight marriage. In the Low Lands, over forty thousand gay men entered into committed relationships.

  42. Took me less than 12 hours to figure out you are not someone we need on this site. So, bye bye. This is truly the way forums work. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

  45. You did and many others but I decided to go my way and life proved me to be wrong and you guys right. But nothing is so simple. I don't have any regrets and in right circumstances I even would be willing to meet with guy in question again. But lessons of not forwarding any money, and I mean any, up front learned. Still smile at recollection of how excited I was hoping for the best. APPOLOGIES FOR CONTRIBUTING TO DERAILING THIS TOPIC but unfortunately that's the nature of the beast called forum. We start topic about retirement and land at discussing price of diapers.

  46. Undercover police wont care if u want to have sex with a guy. Not with foreign tourists. Ive heard no case of this ever happen here. The few cases that has been documented was the case of muslim having intercourse in public places, or in hotels, massage places, clubs, sauna, etc, based on reports by locals. Even then, non muslims were being released without charges, unless drugs involved. Most of the raids are either immigration related or operating without licenses for the premises. Despite still having the draconian laws on homosexual, its rarely enforced, with the exception in 1998 as a political weapon. That person is our current Prime Minister. But i get your worries. Even grindr here will gives a warning from time to time.

  47. One Spa, the newest of the shops, assigned number 220 to its most recent staff addition. Although some of the original guys have since moved on, the shop can boast of most numbers followed by KK Massage just down the road. Since they’re all free agents, many appear on both rosters.

  48. Songkhla, like many other provinces in thailand, is a province, also a city and the capital for Songkhla province. Hat Yai is a city within Songkhla province. Hat Yai is the biggest city in Songkhla, and a major tourist city for Malaysians, as it is reachable from land border as well, via fast train on malaysian side. Most of the locals are muslim/malay and shares similar cultures and food, and their foods and hotels are cheaper than malaysia, making it very attractive for a visit. Regarding nightlife, being a muslim majortiy area, i can say its much similar with how it is in Malaysia, its there, but everything is not as obvious. Straight establishment maybe easier to find on google, but gays establishment are almost none, unless u consult a local, and they will tell u where. There is one sauna locals and tourists goes to as well, and severals mixed massage places where the male masseurs might be open for more, although finding one might be hit or miss. If you ask me, food is the main drive for most malaysian to go there lol. Halal food are pretty much everywhere, and its as good if not better selection than bangkok especially for Malaysian. Grindr might offer something for you. I know several guys who freelance or work in KL/JB in Malaysia who will go to Hat Yai for visa run, so U might be able to catch them there as well. If you have relatives or BF in northern state of Malaysia, it makes perfect sense to consider Songkhla city or Hat Yai as your retirement city.

  49. Yesterday 03 Feb 2023, I just returned from my second trip to Koh Larn. I won't repeat any of the above details - as this trip was an 80% repeat of the November 2022 trip. However, I will document below, additional details (as many of you requested) and an additional beach that we went to visit. On the first day, we returned to my still favorite beach, Tien Beach, where I was able to get additional lodging information which I can share with all of you now. There are 4 places for lodging that exist on Tien Beach - of which 1 is closed and out of business - a 2 floor wooden motel like structure. The other 3 are open - of which, 2 are owned by the HardTien restaurant, which are the 2 pirate looking ships that are situated on the northern most part of Tien beach, and the 8 rooms, which are above the HardTien restaurant. And lastly, as reported above at the beginning of this post, there are the 3 lovely bungalows available at: https://www.facebook.com/tiennara.kohlarn/ and for booking: https://reservation.roomscope.com/1694/en --> Note that these 3 bungalows (listed above) are the MOST expensive - at 4,500 baht per night. Below is the business card from the owner of the HardTien. Rooms are 1,800 baht per night - on the steep side - but you are on one of the most beautiful beaches of Koh Larn which is in a secluded and remote part of the island - thus making it extra special and subject to premium pricing. The owner mentioned to us that you can be picked up by one of their private speed boats from the Bali Hai pier in Pattaya and brought directly to Tien Beach (1,800 baht one way). The price is too much in my opinion. Better to take the normal ferry for 30 baht (one way) and then the bahtbus for 30 baht (one way) or via any of the Bali Hai pier normal speedboat s for 150 baht (one way), and then take the bahtbus or rent a motor bike to get to Tien beach. The below HardTien facebook page displays the photos of BOTH the pirate ship rooms (more rugged but more private if you want to have a party and be more intimate) and the rooms that are immediately above the restaurant. These rooms are more "luxurious" - modern than the pirate ship rooms. https://ne-np.facebook.com/people/หาดเทียนเกาะล้าน/100083400457762/?sk=photos I've decided that in the future I will organize an event here with many Thai friends - as I want to spend 2 nights on this fantastic remote beach - to see it in all of its natural glory after the last tourist boats and ferries have all returned back to Pattaya. This Youtuber posted the below video about this place which truly helps to appreciate why I like it so much. Another new discovery that we made at the Tien beach was back in the forest that is behind the beach is a place called, "Goose Beach" and in this large area are the wonderful geese that are let loose onto the main beach once the day trippers have started to return to Pattaya. As we could stay late on the beach, we had the privilege of seeing these geese run around the beach. Our lodging for the 2 nights was in the southern part of Na Baan - the main port village of Koh Larn - at the same place we stayed back in November 2022. Ban Lung Khao - Green Bungalow on the sea rental contact details: https://www.facebook.com/people/บ้านลุงขาว-เกาะล้าน-รีสอร์ท-081-410-5906/100057360703785/?mibextid=ZbWKwL We spent 2 lovely nights here. Bungalow is on concrete stilts above the rocky coast with a direct view onto the Pattaya / Jomtien skyline across the sea. The additional beach that we visited this trip, was the Ta-Yai beach, which is at the extreme northern part of Koh Larn, with a direct view onto Ko Sak island. https://www.facebook.com/tayaibeachclub This beach was very nice but very small and very crowded. In fact, ALL of the beach chairs were already occupied as we arrived around 12 noon. So, I guess you need to arrive early to get good seating. This is mainly a falang beach - as it is serviced by the Ta-Yai Beach club with typical falang/western beach service. Consequently, we did not stay long. We walked to the farthest northern point - beyond the beach chairs - which was very picturesque, where many people were making instagram photos. Unfortunately, one of my 2 Thai friends slipped on the rocks and cut open his foot so we had to wrap it up as best as we could and then head back into the main Na Baan town to go to the main hospital where they treated it - which put a damper onto our 2nd day activities. After the hospital visit, we drove over to the Samae beach and hung out at that beach for the remainder of the afternoon. Ok, this concludes this trip report. Hopefully, it includes the additional information that was asked by many of you that I could only obtain by visiting this wonderful place again.
